Testimonial #19 – Sara, 27 years old

Emotional shocks can also trigger epilepsy.

Hello everyone, I’m Sara, 27 years old.

My story isn’t easy to tell. I didn’t grow up in a peaceful home — there were more screams than smiles, more fear than love.

I was mistreated, humiliated, and constantly made to feel worthless by my own parents.

For years, I kept everything inside, until my body couldn’t take it anymore.

When I was 19, everything changed.

I started having strange moments, then seizures.

After several tests, the diagnosis came: epilepsy.

No family history, no tumor, no genetic explanation.

Deep down, I knew what it was — my body was speaking for all the pain I had never expressed.

In my family, no one else has epilepsy.

For me, it wasn’t hereditary; it was born from years of emotional trauma and invisible wounds.

When the seizures began, my life fell apart even more.

Some relatives thought I was exaggerating. Others said I was making it up.

It hurt even more than the disease itself.

But through it all, my brother stayed by my side.

He’s the one who helped me stay strong, rebuild, and find stability again.

“He believed in me when no one else did.”

Thanks to him, I found a place to live, some peace, and slowly, the strength to accept myself.

Today, I try to forgive.

“I can’t erase the past, but I can choose not to hate.

I still love my parents, even from a distance.”

Sara wants to share a message with everyone who has faced emotional pain:

💜 Emotional trauma can sometimes trigger or worsen epilepsy.

⚡ It’s not always genetic — sometimes it’s life itself that hits too hard.

🌈 And most importantly: stay positive.

We didn’t choose this illness,

but we can choose how we live with it.

I choose the light.
